Textbook, Mastery Book, and Post-it Notes

But we learnt that word already.

I remember the moment well. My daughter had textbooks, mastery books and practice papers open around her as we revised for an exam. We knew there were words she had struggled with before, but we could not remember where they were. One was in a textbook chapter. Another had appeared in a mastery exercise. Others were buried in pages we had already finished.

So we began underlining unfamiliar words, testing the ones that still did not stay, and placing Post-it notes beside the pages we needed to return to. Later, we copied those words into a small revision book, with the sentence they had come from.

That was the beginning of My Hindi Dictionary on The हिंदी Lab. I wanted each child to have one place for the words they genuinely needed to return to, rather than another long list to memorise. Words a child needs to revise are saved automatically from Picture Description, आज के मुहावरे, शब्द शक्ति and शब्द चुनौती, whether they missed a word meaning, struggled with a spelling tile or got stuck building a sentence. Instead of searching through old books, they can return to their own small collection of difficult words whenever they need it, and tap Got it when a word finally stays.
