1. Who We Are

The हिंदी Lab is operated by The Primary Years Lab ("we", "us", "our"), a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account on thehindilab.com, you ("the account holder") agree to these Terms of Service. You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and are the parent or legal guardian of the child who will use the platform.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not create an account or use the platform.

3. The Service

The हिंदी Lab provides an online Hindi language learning platform for primary school children. The platform currently offers:

  • Reading Aloud — Hindi reading passages with pronunciation scoring and model answers
  • Picture Description — Picture-based speaking practice sets with model answers
  • Listening Comprehension — Audio-based comprehension exercises with guided questions
  • Shabd Shakti — Daily vocabulary practice
  • Aaj Ke Muhavare — Daily idiom practice
  • My Hindi Dictionary — An accumulated vocabulary reference

Content is provided at subscription levels (Foundation, Explorer, Achiever) and through one-time purchase products (such as the PSLE Readiness Pack), as described on our pricing page, and may include additional modules or products we introduce from time to time.

We reserve the right to add, modify, or retire features and products at any time. New products or modules may be introduced as part of existing subscription tiers or offered as separate purchases. Where new products are added to an existing tier at no additional cost, subscribers will gain access automatically. Where new products are offered as separate purchases, existing subscribers will not be charged without their explicit consent.

4. Account Ownership and Responsibility

  • Accounts are owned by the parent or guardian, not the child
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • You must keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others
  • One subscription covers one child only — accounts may not be shared across multiple children
  • If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at theprimaryyearslab@gmail.com

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Monthly Subscriptions (Starter and Complete)

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in Singapore Dollars (SGD) via Stripe
  • Your subscription auto-renews monthly on the same date each month until you cancel
  • You will be charged on the date you first subscribe and on the same date each subsequent month
  • Prices are as displayed on the pricing page at the time of purchase

PSLE Readiness Pack

  • The PSLE Readiness Pack is a one-time purchase at the price displayed on the pricing page
  • No recurring charges apply
  • Access is valid until 30 September 2026
  • The PSLE Readiness Pack is a seasonal product tied to the current PSLE examination cycle — it is not a permanent product
  • A new edition will be made available in June 2027 as a separate purchase at the then-current price — purchase of the current edition does not entitle you to access any future edition

Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. If we change the price of your subscription, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the platform after the price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

One Practice Level Per Subscription

  • Each monthly subscription covers one practice level only: Foundation (P1–P2), Explorer (P3–P4), or Achiever (P5–P6)
  • You choose your level at checkout
  • You may not access content from other subscription levels while on a single-level plan
  • Changing your practice level ends access to your previous level — content, unlock progress, and practice at the old level are no longer available on your subscription

How Content Is Unlocked (Billing Cycles)

Content is released by billing cycle, not by calendar month:

  • Each time your subscription payment is successfully processed, you receive one new content month (typically eight new Reading Aloud sets, and eight new Picture Description sets if your plan includes that module)
  • You retain access to all content months you have already paid for at your current practice level
  • Completing all sets in a content month does not unlock the next month early — the next content month unlocks when your next billing payment is processed
  • If you finish your current month's sets before renewal, you may repeat (revise) sets you have already unlocked at that level

Unlocks are per level. New level = start at month 1. Same level after a break = continue from where you stopped.

Changing Your Practice Level

While your subscription is active:

  • You may schedule a change to a different practice level from Settings
  • The change takes effect at your next billing date (not immediately)
  • Until then, content remains at your current level
  • When the new level takes effect, you lose access to the previous level and begin at content month one for the new level on that billing payment

After your subscription has lapsed:

  • Resubscribe from Billing and choose your level at checkout
  • Choosing a different level replaces your previous level — you cannot access the old level on the same subscription
  • Your first payment at the new level unlocks content month one for that level

Progress and Devices

  • Reading Aloud and Picture Description completion data for a child may be stored locally in your browser on the device used for practice
  • Progress may not appear on a new device or browser until server-side progress features are used (if available)
  • Shabd Shakti, Aaj Ke Muhavare, and related session data stored in our database are associated with your account and practice level where applicable
  • Changing practice level does not transfer Reading or Picture progress from one level's content to another

6. Cancellation

  • You may cancel your monthly subscription at any time from your account settings or the Stripe billing portal
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will not be charged again after that date
  • Because subscriptions are not pro-rated, you retain full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, even after you cancel
  • After that date, access to subscription content ends; your content unlock count at your practice level is retained on your account if you resubscribe later at the same level
  • Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for any period already paid

7. Refund Policy

Except where required by applicable law, all payments are non-refundable.

Once a payment has been processed — whether for a monthly subscription or the PSLE Readiness Pack — no refund will be issued.

If you believe a payment was made in error due to a technical fault on our platform, contact us at theprimaryyearslab@gmail.com within 7 days of the charge and we will investigate.

8. Acceptable Use

By using the platform, you agree that you will not:

  • Allow anyone other than the child for whom the account was created to use the account
  • Use the platform for any commercial purpose
  • Attempt to copy, reproduce, distribute, or resell any content from the platform
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or interfere with the platform
  • Upload or transmit any harmful, offensive, or unlawful content
  • Impersonate any person or entity

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without refund.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on The हिंदी Lab — including but not limited to reading passages, picture description sets, model answers, vocabulary lists, idiom banks, images, and audio — is the intellectual property of The Primary Years Lab.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, or create derivative works from any content on the platform without our prior written consent.

Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use the content for the private educational use of one child only.

Unauthorised reproduction and circulation of content is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to photographing, screenshotting, downloading, printing, or sharing any content from the platform — including reading passages, picture description sets, model answers, images, vocabulary lists, and idiom banks — through any channel, including WhatsApp, email, social media, messaging applications, or any other digital or physical medium.

Any unauthorised reproduction or circulation of platform content constitutes an infringement of The Primary Years Lab's intellectual property rights. We reserve the right to take legal action, including seeking injunctive relief, damages, and other remedies available under applicable law, against any individual or party found to have reproduced, distributed, or circulated our content without authorisation. This applies regardless of whether the content is shared for commercial gain or private use.

10. Voice Recordings

Voice recordings made during practice sessions are subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the platform, you consent to the collection and processing of voice recordings as described in the Privacy Policy.

You retain ownership of voice recordings submitted through the platform. By submitting a recording, you grant The Primary Years Lab a limited licence to store, process, analyse and use the recording for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy, including use to improve the platform where you have given the compulsory consent at checkout (which may continue after your subscription ends, as described in the Privacy Policy).

11. Content Accuracy

We make every effort to ensure that content on the platform is accurate, appropriate, and aligned with Singapore primary school Hindi curriculum standards. However, we do not warrant that the platform will guarantee any specific academic outcome or examination result.

The platform is a supplementary practice tool and is not a substitute for formal school instruction.

12. Availability

We aim to keep the platform available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control.

We will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by temporary unavailability of the platform.

13. Security and Data Incidents

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your account and personal data. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. Unauthorised access, data loss, or interference may occur despite our efforts, including from circumstances outside our control such as third-party service failures, internet outages, or malicious activity by third parties.

If we become aware of a personal data incident affecting your information, we will handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law, including notifying you and the Personal Data Protection Commission where required.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account (see Section 4).

Except where prohibited by applicable law (including the Personal Data Protection Act), we shall not be liable for loss or damage arising from unauthorised access to your account where caused by your failure to keep credentials secure, or from security incidents beyond our reasonable control. The limitations in Section 14 also apply.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law, The Primary Years Lab shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of the platform
  • Any loss of data, revenue, or academic opportunity
  • Any harm arising from a child's unsupervised use of the platform

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the total amount paid by you in the three months preceding the claim.

15. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if:

  • You breach these Terms of Service
  • We suspect fraudulent or abusive activity on your account
  • We decide to discontinue the platform

If we terminate your account for reasons other than a breach of these Terms, we will provide a pro-rata refund for any unused portion of a paid subscription period. In the case of a breach, no refund will be issued.

Following termination or account deletion, personal data and voice recordings will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

16. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including internet outages, cloud service failures, acts of government, natural disasters, or labour disputes.

17. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email if the changes are material. Continued use of the platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
