The Subject We Always Came Back To
“We promised ourselves we would come back to it later.”
There was a time when Hindi became our weekend subject.
Not because we didn't care about it. Quite the opposite. We cared a lot.
But by the time school, homework, tuition and everything else had been squeezed into the week, Hindi was often the subject we promised ourselves we would come back to later.
As I sat beside my son one evening, trying to finish another week's worth of homework, I realised we weren't short of effort.
We were short of regular exposure.
A language isn't something children can revisit once a week and expect to feel confident in. It needs to stay familiar, little by little, day by day.
That simple thought stayed with me.
That's still the idea behind The Hindi Lab today: to make Hindi part of everyday family life again.
